Scorsese won in his third start Aug. 26 at Belterra Park.

Multiple group winner Producer was represented by his first winner Aug. 26 when his gelded son Scorsese captured a six-furlong maiden special weight at Belterra Park in frontrunning style by 1 1/2 lengths.

Calumet Farm, which stands Producer, bred Scorsese in Kentucky out of the unraced War Front  daughter Pomaria, who is a half sister to black-type winner War Giant (Data Link) and stakes-placed winner Miss Gabrielita R. (U S Ranger).

Sean Feld bought Scorsese for $2,700 at the 2019 Keeneland September Yearling Sale out of South Point Sales Agency’s consignment. Feld races the gelding in partnership with trainer James Chapman. Scorsese now has a win and a third-place finish from three starts and earned $10,152.

Producer is an 11-year-old son of Dutch Art out of the Irish River mare River Saint. Raced by Jonathan Palmer-Brown and trained by Richard Hannon, Producer raced from 2 to 7 and owns eight wins with five placed finishes out of 31 starts. He was retired with $696,764 in earnings. His victories included the Greene King Supreme Stakes (G3) and Bet365 Criterion Stakes (G3) in England and the International Topkapi Trophy, a local group 2 race in Turkey.

Calumet owned Producer for his last two starts and then retired him to stud in 2017. The stallion has seven named foals all bred by Calumet in his first crop, which now includes two starters.
