Rich Strike Moves Into World’s Best Racehorse Rankings

Following his 80-1 upset of the May 7 Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve (G1) at Churchill Downs, RED TR-Racing’s Rich Strike  has climbed into a tie for 15th-place in the Longines World’s Best Racehorse Rankings.

The Keen Ice   colt was assigned a 119 rating, currently leaving him as the top-ranked 3-year-old dirt horse in the world. Counting sophomore turf horses, the Eric Reed trainee trails only Coroebus  (121), ranked fifth, and is tied with Geoglyph and Native Trail , part of a group of horses ranked 15th.

Older horses Life Is Good  and Nature Strip  are the top-ranked horses in the world with co-high ratings of 124. Speaker’s Corner  is next at 123 and Golden Sixty is fourth at 122.

Rising in the rankings is Jackie’s Warrior  (121), last year’s champion male sprinter who powered to a four-length victory in the Churchill Downs Stakes presented by Ford (G1) on Kentucky Derby Day. He came into the race off a win in the Count Fleet Sprint Handicap (G3) at Oaklawn Park in April.

He is in a joint tie for fifth with the aforementioned Coroebus, plus Country Grammer Golden Pal , and Titleholder.
